About:
Street Child Africa
Street Child Africa works with local partner organisations in sub-Saharan Africa to support children in street situations who are often uncounted and unheard. These children are denied access to education and healthcare, subject to violence and overlooked by government policy. The daily injustices they face are violations of international human rights law. Street Child Africa knows that children in street situations are entitled to protection, provision of services and participation in matters affecting them.
Street Child Africa funds twelve grassroots organisations in eight countries that provide:
• Education and skills training
• Drop-in and residential centres
• Basic healthcare services
• Family tracing, mediation and reintegration
We are committed to working in the long-term to:
1. Ensure funding for our partners’ activities
2. Strengthen the work of our partner organisations, and
3. Raise awareness of the conditions facing children in street situations and the causes leading to these situations.
We accomplish these goals by fundraising, supporting staff training, project planning, and local and international advocacy work. Street Child Africa’s work in sub-Saharan Africa helps children in street situations to realise their rights and their potential. Their potential is our inspiration.
